WHAT IS YOUR CONDITION?
Food Allergies / Sensitivities      (READ AN AMAZING CASE STUDY HERE!)

What Causes Food Allergies?  Not all food reactions are true allergies, so more accurately, we'll
answer what causes food reactions?

Some are true genetic based food allergies.  That means you need to identify it and eliminate it
completely.

Other reactions are caused by stomach and intestinal inflammation, which may be caused by
imbalanced fat consumption (omega 6 vs. omega 3 foods….heres an ARTICLE on that), infections
(bacteria, yeast, parasites), true food allergies (you really are allergic to one food, and the
inflammation that causes, then causes reactions to other foods), high insulin levels (feeling sleepy
after meals is a good sign of high insulin), and environmental chemicals including food chemicals
(toxicity).

How Do You Know if You Have Food Allergies or Sensitivities?  In some cases, there is a clear
symptom associated with a certain food.  But in most cases, a person has chronic symptoms of
unknown cause, and a doctor trained in detecting food allergies will run some tests to discover the
reactive foods.

Food allergies or food sensitivities can cause or contribute to: Headaches, eye strain or
irritation, ear pain or ringing, runny nose or sinus congestion, cold or flu like symptoms, recurrent
infections, heart palpitations or arrhythmia, increased heart rate, asthma, nausea, diarrhea,
constipation, eczema, psoriasis, muscle and joint pain or swelling, fibromyalgia, water retention, hair
loss, fatigue, insomnia and more.

As you can see, if you have just about any symptom or condition, and it
isn’t going away, you should consider food allergies or sensitivities.

Lab Testing:  Our baseline testing includes a scan using muscle testing, and a lab that includes a
CBC, which provides your immune cell counts.  If your eosinophil count is over 2.5%, it is suggestive
of a potential food allergy or sensitivity, but it can indicate mold or yeast issues also.

Our food sensitivity lab that we currently use is the ALCAT.  This lab is very accurate at detecting
food reactions, but it doesn’t differentiate a true food allergy vs. sensitivity vs. irritation.  For clinical
results, I believe this is the most important information…what are you reacting to now…to aid in
improving your health.  Down the road, when you are feeling better, we can either retest to see what
reactions are gone, or reintroduce a food you were reacting to and see if any symptoms return (you
have to wait at least 5 days to notice delayed hypersensitivity type reactions).

Allergy Desensitization:  My experience with some very sensitive patients is that we can desensitize
the reaction over time using anti-inflammatory and adaptogenic plant medicines coupled with
acupressure protocols to re-align your body’s energy to a food or natural environmental trigger, such
as pollen or mold.  By very sensitive, I mean, patients that are limited to under 20 foods, and if they
eat anything outside the non-reactive foods, their hair falls out, they get rashes all over their bodies,
they can’t sleep for 3 days, or they have severe pain reactions.  Very sensitive!  Even in these very
sensitive patients, we have been able to reintroduce all foods, or all foods but one, their true
allergen.

What’s Next?  If you are ready to find the SOURCE of your chronic symptoms, or more
accurately identify and desensitize your food allergies and sensitivities, go to the New
Patient tab, above and center…all the forms and instructions are on that page to schedule
your initial evaluation.
