Migraines Stole 8 Years of Her Life
A healing story about migraines, autoimmunity, chronic stress, and finally finding the pattern underneath
Healing should not feel impossible.
And yet this woman spent nearly 30 years looking for relief from migraines that left her incapacitated, nauseous, and vomiting for almost two days every week.
Two days a week.
For 30 years.
When you add those days together, that is nearly 8 years of her life spent in bed, in pain, sick to her stomach, waiting for the migraine to pass.
Eight years.
Gone.
And migraines were only part of the story.
She had also lived with fatigue and depression for more than 20 years. Eventually, she was diagnosed with a thyroid problem and prescribed Synthroid.
But instead of finally getting her life back, she developed another painful condition: hair loss.
Her hair began falling out. Patches of baldness appeared on her scalp. She was later told this was a condition called telogen effluvium, where inflammation and immune activity can disturb the hair growth cycle.
Then came seizures.
Then allergies.
Then dry eye syndrome so irritating that she described it as feeling like she constantly had hair in her eyes.
And in the last couple of years, she developed a pressure in her throat — a lump-like sensation that made her feel as if she were being strangled.
That is a lot of suffering for one woman to carry.
Four Doctors and Partial Answers
She had seen at least four doctors for her various conditions.
And to give credit where it is due, one prescription, phenobarbital, had helped eliminate the seizures.
That mattered.
But the rest of her symptoms did not improve.
The migraines continued.
The fatigue continued.
The depression continued.
The hair loss continued.
The allergies and dry eyes worsened.
The throat pressure became frightening.
She tried natural and homeopathic supplements on her own and did get some temporary relief with the hair loss, but it did not last.
She was still searching.
Still suffering.
Still wondering why her body seemed to be falling apart in different directions at the same time.
That is where the deeper question begins.
Not, “What drug suppresses this symptom?”
But:
What pattern connects all of this?
The Body Was Telling One Story
When someone has migraines, fatigue, depression, hair loss, allergies, dry eyes, throat pressure, and autoimmune thyroid patterns, I do not see seven unrelated problems.
I see one body telling one story in seven different languages.
The brain speaks through migraines.
The immune system speaks through inflammation and autoimmunity.
The thyroid speaks through metabolism, mood, and energy.
The hair speaks through depletion and immune stress.
The eyes speak through dryness, irritation, and sensitivity.
The throat speaks through pressure, swelling, and alarm.
The nervous system speaks through overwhelm.
The question is not just, “What diagnosis does she have?”
The better question is:
What is keeping her body stuck in this state?
Looking for the Root Pattern
Her labs revealed that her thyroid problem had an autoimmune pattern.
That was important.
A swollen, irritated, or inflamed thyroid can create the sensation of fullness, pressure, or choking in the throat. I have heard other patients describe it as feeling like they were wearing a tight metal collar around the neck.
With autoimmune patterns, we have to look at the immune system.
Why is the immune system activated?
What is it reacting to?
What is keeping the attack going?
In her case, the labs showed elevated lymphocytes, which can point toward a chronic immune challenge, often viral in nature.
That gave us a possible connection.
The thyroid issue was not just a “low thyroid” problem.
It looked more like an immune system problem affecting the thyroid.
And if the immune system was dysregulated enough to affect the thyroid, it could also be connected to the hair loss, the migraines, the allergies, the dry eyes, the platelets, the gut, the liver, and the gallbladder.
The pattern was becoming clearer.
The Root Pattern
The pattern we identified was:
A chronic immune challenge creating immune imbalance, autoimmune stress, inflammation, and hypersensitivity throughout the body.
That is a very different way of seeing the case.
Instead of treating migraines as one problem, hair loss as another, dry eyes as another, thyroid as another, and fatigue as another, we looked at the deeper terrain.
The immune system.
The stress response.
The viral burden.
The inflammatory load.
The gut.
The liver and gallbladder.
The body’s ability to calm, clear, and repair.
When those systems are overwhelmed, the body can become hypersensitive.
Sensitive to pollen.
Sensitive to chemicals.
Sensitive to foods.
Sensitive to stress.
Sensitive to people.
Sensitive to life.
The Stress-Hypersensitivity Connection
One of the things I explained to her is that elevated stress physiology can make the body more reactive.
When the body is stuck in fight-or-flight chemistry, it becomes easier to irritate.
The eyes become irritated.
The sinuses become irritated.
The skin becomes irritated.
The gut becomes irritated.
The nervous system becomes irritated.
The emotions become irritated.
Even people can feel irritating.
That does not mean it is “all in your head.”
It means the body is living in a heightened state of alarm.
And in that state, everything feels louder.
Pollen is louder.
Dust is louder.
Perfume is louder.
Chemicals are louder.
Sugar is louder.
Criticism is louder.
Life itself becomes harder to tolerate.
That was part of her pattern.
The Plant Support
Once we identified the immune and stress pattern, we used plant-based support aimed at calming the immune challenge and strengthening resilience.
Two of the key plants that tested well for her body were Tulsi and Elderberry.
Tulsi, also known as Holy Basil, has a long history of use in India and Ayurvedic medicine. It is traditionally used to support stress resilience, immune balance, sleep, and respiratory health.
I think of Tulsi as one of the great “calm strength” plants.
It does not just sedate the body.
It helps the body respond to stress with more steadiness.
For someone whose system is hypersensitive, reactive, inflamed, and exhausted, that kind of support can be powerful.
Elderberry has a long history of use for immune support, especially during cold and flu seasons. In this case, we used it as part of a broader immune-support strategy.
The goal was not to “kill” the body into submission.
The goal was to help her immune system regain control.
To help her body stop reacting wildly.
To help her system remember how to calm down.
The Shift
After years of suffering, something changed.
On a recent visit, she was excited.
She wanted to know:
“What did Dr. Stone do differently?”
Thirty years of migraines.
Eight years of combined life lost to pain, nausea, vomiting, and bed.
And now?
No migraines for many weeks.
The dry eye sensation — the feeling like hair was stuck in her eyes — was gone.
Her mood was better.
She felt happy.
She felt energized.
She was not trapped in the same depression and exhaustion.
The throat pressure had improved.
Her body was responding.
That is what we are looking for.
Not perfection in one day.
A healing trend.
A sign that the body is no longer losing ground.
A sign that the system has begun moving toward strength, calm, and resilience.
Winning for the First Time in 30 Years
Her follow-up labs showed that the fight was not completely over.
But for the first time in decades, she was winning.
That matters.
Because healing does not always mean every symptom disappears forever and you never have another bad day.
Healing often begins when the bad days become less intense.
When recovery is faster.
When the body stops collapsing under stress.
When the nervous system has more room.
When the immune system becomes less chaotic.
When you remember what “good” feels like.
And once you feel good again, even for a little while, something powerful happens.
Hope returns.
Not fantasy hope.
Real hope.
The kind that says:
“My body can still change.”
What She Learned About Stress
She also began to see how stress and emotional upset affected all of her symptoms.
That was not a failure.
That was information.
When the body is already inflamed, autoimmune, exhausted, and hypersensitive, stress can pour gasoline on the fire.
But now she had tools.
She had a pattern.
She had support.
She had plant medicine that helped calm and strengthen her system.
She had a different way to understand her body.
Instead of thinking, “I am broken,” she could begin to think:
“My body has been under attack. My system has been overwhelmed. And now we are helping it recover.”
That is a very different story.
The Lesson
The lesson from her story is not that every migraine is caused by a chronic virus.
It is not that every thyroid problem is autoimmune.
It is not that every person needs Tulsi or Elderberry.
The lesson is this:
When symptoms show up in multiple systems, we have to look for the pattern underneath.
Migraines are not always just migraines.
Hair loss is not always just hair loss.
Fatigue is not always just fatigue.
Depression is not always just mood.
Dry eyes are not always just eyes.
Throat pressure is not always just throat pressure.
The body is connected.
The immune system, nervous system, endocrine system, gut, liver, and stress response are all in constant conversation.
When that conversation becomes chaotic, symptoms can appear everywhere.
And when we find the pattern, the body can finally begin to heal in a more organized way.
This Is Why I Created BR90
This is exactly why I created BR90.
BR90 is for people who know their body is not right, even if they have been told everything looks “fine.”
It is for people with fatigue, inflammation, hormone problems, immune problems, gut problems, migraines, pain, anxiety, poor sleep, food reactions, or symptoms that seem disconnected but all feel like they are coming from the same exhausted body.
In BR90, we do not just chase symptoms.
We look for the deeper pattern.
Stress physiology.
Lab patterns.
Immune stress.
Gut inflammation.
Liver and gallbladder burden.
Hormone disruption.
Nutrient depletion.
Recovery blocks.
The reasons your body may be stuck in survival mode.
Then we coach you step by step to help your body repair, rebuild, and respond differently.
If You Feel Like You Have Lost Years of Your Life
Maybe your story is not migraines.
Maybe it is fatigue.
Brain fog.
Anxiety.
Pain.
Autoimmune flares.
Food reactions.
Hormone swings.
Inflammation.
Poor sleep.
Or just the feeling that your body is getting harder and harder to live in.
Maybe you have not lost 8 years in bed.
But you know you have lost time.
Lost energy.
Lost joy.
Lost confidence.
Lost parts of yourself.
And maybe you are tired of being told everything is fine when you know it is not.
That is what BR90 is for.
We help you look underneath the symptoms and find the pattern your body has been trying to reveal.
Because healing is not just about reducing symptoms.
Healing is getting your life back.
If this story sounds familiar, I invite you to apply for BR90.
Tell us what you have been struggling with.
Tell us what you have tried.
Tell us where you feel stuck.
You may not need another random supplement, another quick fix, or another person telling you to just live with it.
You may need someone to help you find the deeper pattern and guide your body back toward strength, calm, and resilience.
