Legalize Cannabis?
Is Marijuana a drug or a medicine?
Is Medicine a drug or medicine?
“Within minutes, smoking marijuana produces a dreamy state of consciousness in which ideas seem disconnected, unanticipated, and free-flowing. Time, color, and spatial perceptions may be altered. In general, intoxication consists of a feeling of euphoria and relaxation (a high). These effects last 4 to 6 h after inhalation.” (1) “Psychologic dependence can develop with chronic use, but very little physical dependence is clinically apparent. Withdrawal is uncomfortable but requires only supportive treatment.”
Or a friend, to say, “You are escaping. Use it to expand your mind and visualize your heart’s desire.”
That is from the Merck Manual, aka the Medical Bible. The Medical Bible says it produces a dreamy state, euphoria and relaxation. If it is safe, and provides THAT, well, then legislators are just a$$holes.
Is Marijuana a Gateway Drug?
Gateway Drug? Consistently leading people to more destructive synthetic street drugs? Real Doctors say that is “False” (from Healthline, a “real” doctor website). So never listen to that “sound bite” from legislators again. Please check the link for yourself!
Is Marijuana Dangerous?
Lung Cancer? “Unknown.” While the link between lung cancer and tobacco is “well-known.” A plant that our legislators support through legalization, which seems to only benefit Big Tobacco. But I have heard that legislators take money as influence?? IDK. This would never happen on my home planet. (2) (WebMD)
That reads, one “drug” Cannabis, aka plant medicine = 0 deaths. 17 FDA approved drugs = 10,008 deaths.
Does Marijuana increase stupidity? Ie. Not able to know when you are impaired? “…some studies find decreased or no risk from driving while smoking marijuana, and others increased risk.” “We are not sure…”
In contrast, epidemiological studies on the relationship between alcohol consumption and accidents have been clear-cut and consistent, demonstrating that the risk of a motor vehicle accident increases significantly with BAC > 0.05%.(3)
Alcohol is supported by legislators through legalization, and their value is massive tax revenue. Which is really how Marijuana was legalized this far, if we are honest. Money, money.
Let’s be really honest. Marijuana was made illegal to keep black people from hitting on white women. Lol. Or was it to shut the hippies up? Or was it to legally detain Mexican immigrants? IDK. I definitely wasn’t for the reasons legislators give! Let’s see? Lol
Is there any scientific validation of Cannabis as a medicine?
“Marijuana as Medicine. The Science Behind the Controversy“
“Although there has been very little clinical pain research on marijuana, the findings support positive results from animal and other basic experiments. Further clinical research appears to be well worth pursuing if it leads to a new class of drugs to complement existing painkillers or medications that could simultaneously relieve pain and nausea or appetite loss. The latter would be especially useful to people with AIDS and cancer, as described in the next two chapters.” (4). copyright 2001. ???
So let’s check the current research, since science says it is worthy of consideration…
2017: “There is evidence suggesting that medical cannabis reduces chronic neuropathic pain in advanced cancer patients. However, the results of many studies lacked statistical power, in some cases due to limited number of study subjects. Therefore, there is a need for the conduct of further double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials with large sample sizes in order to establish the optimal dosage and efficacy of different cannabis-based therapies.” (5). Hmmm, still calling for more research.
2012: “CBD alleviates psychotic symptoms of schizophrenia.” (5). That is a RCT, the highest form of scientific validation, but it was observed by Germans.
2018: Context: “Prior Phase 2/3 studies found that cannabinoids might provide adjunctive analgesia in advanced cancer patients with uncontrolled pain. Results: In exploratory analyses, U.S. patients, but not patients from the rest of the world, experienced significant benefits from cannabis on multiple secondary endpoints. Possible contributing factors to differences in cannabis efficacy include: 1) the U.S. participants received lower doses of opioids at baseline than the rest of the world.” (6)
I’m not following? So if you take opioids until you are out of you mind, then the value of cannabis is eliminated? But if you are not drugged out of your mind, then there is significant benefits from cannabis? Is that right?
2018: Authors’ conclusions: “The potential benefits of cannabis-based medicine (herbal cannabis, plant-derived or synthetic THC, THC/CBD oromucosal spray) in chronic neuropathic pain might be outweighed by their potential harms. We found no information about long-term risks in the studies analyzed.” (7). So there are benefits? But we must assume cannabis is as harmful as opioids, or even NSAIDs like advil, which kill 16,000 people every year?
2018: Conclusion: “Administration of a therapeutic dose of CBD (750 mg) showed significantly low abuse potential in a highly sensitive population of polydrug users.” (8). How would you abuse a plant medicine that relaxes muscles and lifts depression without any “high” or escape from reality??
2016: Results: “Active marijuana reliably produced abuse-related subjective effects (e.g., high) . However, CBD was placebo-like on all measures collected.” (9). Hahahahahaha…they proved that marijuana gets you high, which will likely result in abuse, and CBD doesn’t get you high. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha….
2016: Results: “Among men, active cannabis significantly decreased pain sensitivity relative to placebo. In women, active cannabis failed to decrease pain sensitivity relative to placebo. Active cannabis increased pain tolerance in both men women immediately after smoking; a trend was observed for differences between men and women. Active cannabis also increased subjective ratings of cannabis associated with abuse liability (‘Take again,’ ‘Liking,’ ‘Good drug effect’), drug strength, and ‘High’ relative to inactive in both men and women (p<0.01).” (10) Wait a second, liking the effects of your medicine so you want to take it again is abusive?
2015: Perspective: “This small, short-term, placebo-controlled trial of inhaled cannabis demonstrated a dose-dependent reduction in diabetic peripheral neuropathy pain in patients with treatment-refractory pain. This adds preliminary evidence to support further research on the efficacy of the cannabinoids in neuropathic pain.” (11). We definitely know it works on this pain in a small group, but we have no way to extrapolate that information into a larger population.???
2017: “...the overall pattern of scores was such that the Cannabis group usually had scores that were better than the placebo group. For secondary outcomes Cannabis was associated with a nominally significant improvement in hyperactivity/impulsivity and a trend towards improvement for inattention. Adults with ADHD may represent a subgroup of individuals who experience a reduction of symptoms and no cognitive impairments following cannabinoid use. While not definitive, this study provides preliminary evidence supporting the self-medication theory of cannabis use in ADHD and the need for further studies of the endocannabinoid system in ADHD.” (12). Actual quotes, saying it clearly works, but something doesn’t seem right…like the results. We are going to call it “inconclusive.”
2019: Abstract: Background: “Cannabis is one of the most widely used drugs worldwide. Cannabis use disorder is characterised by recurrent use of cannabis that causes significant clinical and functional impairment. There are no approved pharmacological treatments for cannabis use disorder.” (13) Yale University School of Medicine. OMFG, Yale is searching for a drug to get people to stop using Cannabis!? That’s the Ivy League for you…desperately need to hit the bong.
2016: Objective: “Marijuana has been approved for a number of psychiatric conditions in many states in the US including posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), agitation in Alzheimer’s disease, and Tourette’s disorder. In this systematic review, we examine the strength of evidence for the efficacy of marijuana and other cannabinoids for these psychiatric indications. Results: No RCTs have thus far examined the efficacy of marijuana for Tourette’s disorder, PTSD, or Alzheimer’s disease. Lower-quality studies examined the efficacy of marijuana, Δ⁹-tetrahydrocannabinol, and nabilone; the strength of evidence for the use of cannabinoids for these conditions is very low at the present time. The consequences of chronic cannabinoid exposure includes tolerance, dependence, and withdrawal. Early and persistent marijuana use has been associated with the emergence of psychosis. Marijuana impairs attention, memory, IQ, and driving ability. Conclusions: Given its rapidly changing legal status, there is an urgent need to conduct double-blind, randomized, placebo- or active-controlled studies on the efficacy and safety of marijuana or its constituent cannabinoids for psychiatric conditions. Physicians and policy-makers should take into account the limited existing evidence and balance that with side effects before approving medical marijuana for psychiatric indications.” (14). Fucking really??. It has enough evidence to be used in some states but we don’t think it is good evidence and we are very concerned about abuse. From the lack of scientific proof that it will not be abused? I thought this was an innocent until proven guilty culture?
2015: “Under placebo vs CBD conditions, active cannabis produced significant, time-dependent increases in ratings of ‘High’, ‘Good Effect’, ratings of the cannabis cigarette (eg, strength, liking), and heart rate relative to inactive cannabis. CBD, which alone produced no significant psychoactive or cardiovascular effects, did not significantly alter any of these outcomes. Cannabis self-administration, subjective effects, and cannabis ratings did not vary as a function of CBD dose relative to placebo capsules. These findings suggest that oral CBD does not reduce the reinforcing, physiological, or positive subjective effects of smoked cannabis.” (15). So you get high if you smoke marijuana whether you take CBD or not. Oh, OK. Thank you.
2017: Background: “Cannabis use disorder (CUD) is a prevalent and impairing condition, and established psychosocial treatments convey limited efficacy. In light of recent findings supporting the efficacy of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) for CUD in adolescents, the objective of this trial was to evaluate its efficacy in adults.” (16). Americans, including Johns Hopkins University. They see massive suffering at the hands of the cannabis, but NAC couldn’t stop their abuse.
DrStone: “My first experience with Cannabis was in college. Not what you think. I did try it, but my roommate was a daily “abuser.” He was intelligent, and the captain of the basketball team. He smoked before the games and averaged close to 30 points a game.”
2018: Results: “THC significantly reduced patients’ pain compared to placebo.” (17) That is an RCT. Randomized Clinical Trial, the highest form of scientific validation. Tel Aviv University, Israel. But we all know that you can’t trust foreigners. Or maybe they aren’t as motivated by profit over people, and can honestly observe without conflicts of interest. IDK for sure!?
2016: Background: “There is currently no pharmacological treatment approved for cannabis dependence. In this proof of concept study, we assessed the feasibility/effects of fixed and self-titrated dosages of Sativex (1:1, Δ(9)-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)/cannabidiol (CBD)) on craving and withdrawal from cannabis among nine community-recruited cannabis-dependent subjects.” (18). LOL, they wondered if edibles, TCH is a pill form, which they might market as a drug, could reduce cannabis dependence, and it did work. Yes, eating cannabis reduced the smoking of cannabis. LMAO, it was Canada. Sorry, ‘eh, I’m just reporting the news, the scientific breakthroughs of modern medicine as reported in the National Library of Medicine.
2018: “Evidence for its (Cannabis) efficacy in treating epilepsy is limited but growing, with a single pharmaceutical company-funded randomised double-blind controlled trial in children with Dravet syndrome.” (19). Australia is encouraged but afraid of it. It sounds like their fear leads them to control the distribution by the wealthiest people, who will take profit from growers who love Cannabis. Because they can.
2015: I couldn’t find a sentence that a non-doctor could make out, but those darn Isrealis concluded that CBD decreased tissue rejection after blood transfusions. (20). And that is all I have to say about that.
2019: Conclusion: “Our findings confirm the anxiolytic-like properties of CBD and are consonant with results of animal studies describing bell-shaped dose-response curves. Optimal therapeutic doses of CBD should be rigorously determined so that research findings can be adequately translated into clinical practice.” (21). Doctors in Brazil found that CBD reduced the anxiety of public speaking. And THC increased the hilarity of public speaking. (That part wasn’t actually tested, just a guess)
2016: “The first randomized, double-blind controlled clinical trial demonstrated that in acute schizophrenia, cannabidiol exerts antipsychotic properties comparable to the antipsychotic drug amisulpride while being accompanied by a superior, placebo-like side effect profile.” (22). Yes, it works just as well as your pharmaceutical, with no side effects. Like taking a placebo. A few people complain about anything…
2016: Results: “Cann-CBD reduced the likelihood of high-effort choices relative to placebo.” (23) The Effort Expenditure for Rewards Task (EEfRT) was performed on cannabis users, and cannabis reduced motivation to do stupid strenuous tasks for more money. -Imperial College London. (Is the willingness to do anything for money a desired quality?)
2017: Background: “Cannabis use disorder (CUD) is a common condition with few treatments. Several studies in other substance use disorders have found that applying repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) to the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) decreases cue-elicited craving and possibly decreases use.” (24). Stupid Americans trying to get people to stop feeling, in their own words, a dreamy state of consciousness in which ideas seem disconnected, unanticipated, and free-flowing. In general, intoxication consists of a feeling of euphoria and relaxation (a high). Stimulating their brains with a magnetic beam didn’t work.
2018: “Cannabis enhances the analgesic effects of sub-threshold oxycodone, suggesting synergy, without increases in cannabis’s abuse liability.” (25). That means they could get the same pain relief with less opioid drugs, which is the current most destructive addiction on the planet.
2018: University College London determined that you should not give schizophrenics marijuana, but CBD was helpful. (26). See, they didn’t trust the Germans who already concluded that benefit.
2017: University of Maryland School of Medicine determined that marijuana does impair coordination, but they still don’t know for sure if it impairs judgment. Oh, and it dilates the pupils. (27). Impaired judgment, you know, making bad decisions. Like making it legal to destroy lives with opioids, and highly profitable. (28). Article (28) is about the Sacklers protecting their wealth from lawsuits over opioids.
2018 Abstract
“Epidermolysis bullosa is a rare blistering skin disorder that is challenging to manage because skin fragility and repeated wound healing cause itching, pain, limited mobility, and recurrent infections. Cannabidiol, an active cannabinoid found in cannabis, is postulated to have antiinflammatory and analgesic effects. We report 3 cases of self-initiated topical cannabidiol use in patients with epidermolysis bullosa in an observational study. One patient was weaned completely off oral opioid analgesics. All 3 reported faster wound healing, less blistering, and amelioration of pain with cannabidiol use. Although these results demonstrate promise, further randomized, double-blind clinical trials are necessary to provide scientific evidence of our observed benefits of cannabidiol for the treatment of epidermolysis bullosa.” (29). Stanford University acknowledging the results of patients who took their care into their own hands. It was good. But just case studies so we cannot come to any conclusions.
2018: Conclusion: “Our study finds that the therapeutic use of cannabis is safe and efficacious in the elderly population. Cannabis use may decrease the use of other prescription medicines, including opioids. Gathering more evidence-based data, including data from double-blind randomized-controlled trials, in this special population is imperative.” (30) From Israel, so disregard.
2019: “CBD significantly decreased anxiety measured by both scales. The results indicate that CBD could be a useful option to treat social anxiety.” (31). But Xanax earns billions per year and is highly addictive, so profit wins in America.
2018: Conclusions and relevance: “Vaporized and smoked cannabis produced dose-orderly drug effects, which were stronger when vaporized.” (32). Yes, you get high from cannabis. You slow down your task orientation, and you feel a little dreamy. I hope we can stop this destruction of lives!
2017: Results: “In comparison to placebo, 7.5mg THC significantly reduced self-reported subjective distress after the Trier Social Stress Test and attenuated post-task appraisals of the TSST as threatening and challenging.” (33). OMG, the highest form of scientific validation proves that marijuana relaxes you around hurtful people.
2017: The Netherlands Doctors concluded that smoking pot, does in fact give you the munchies. (34). They did not report whether it made them eat more junk food than an average American.
2017: “The trial results demonstrate that cannabis is a safe long-term treatment option for neuropathic pain (NP) symptoms associated with multiple sclerosis (MS)” (35). I’d do my AutoImmune Protocol alongside and I bet we’d do a whole bunch better. I’ve resolved many autoimmune diseases. At least all their symptoms went away. Whatever you call that.
2020: “This study supports the safety and therapeutic potential of hemp-derived CBD for relieving arthritic pain (in animals).” (36). America, but animal doctors. A different perspective.
2018: Conclusions: Single-dose inhalation of vaporized cannabis had no clinically meaningful positive or negative effect on airway function, exertional breathlessness, and exercise endurance in adults with advanced COPD. (37) Hmmm…doesn’t even hurt the sick or weak.
That is what Science offers…at least the first 4 pages when you search “Marijuana double blind” on the National Library of Medicine database.
Let’s listen to what our local legislators say about legalizing marijuana…
Sen. Jim Davis, R-Franklin
“It’s too early to make a judgment. I’d like to wait and see what happens with experiments in Colorado, Washington, California. I would not support a referendum.”
Rep. Michele Presnell, R-Burnsville
“I do not support legalization of cannabis in North Carolina. Let’s call it what it is – marijuana is a gateway drug. Too many families are forever broken through drugs in our counties.” Yes, pharmaceuticals are the 3rd leading cause of death, and responsible for the most destructive addictions.
Rep. Joe Sam Queen, D-Waynesville
“Now, we will be listening to what’s going on in California and their experiences, what the consequences of this are. I mean, what are the pros and cons from real experiences across the nation, rather than just people’s opinions?” IDK, with Big Pharma being the 3rd leading cause of death and plant medicines not having one recorded death in 3000 years, we might benefit from a more proactive approach.
Commission Chairman Kevin Ensley
“I would not be in favor of recreational marijuana. The cons far outweigh the pros, as Colorado is now seeing. The sheriff told me he was in a meeting in Colorado and the law enforcement there told him the tax revenues did not cover the costs that the recreational marijuana caused. There has been no, zip, zero, nothing, nada in the way of any support for recreational marijuana from the community I associate with.” Hmmm, I saw several RCTs concluding beneficial effects, including social anxiety and response to stressful situations.
Commissioner Brandon Rogers
“I would oppose legalization of this drug as recreational use and would oppose a resolution in support as such. Users can develop dependence or addiction through ways similar to other drugs of abuse including alcohol and tobacco.” Actually alcohol and tobacco are proven to be harmful and addictive, and marijuana’s harmful effects have not been concluded or observed. But alcohol and tobacco are legal and both considered Big Money for Big Business. And Big Taxes.
Commissioner Tommy Long.
“My answer is no. Here is why. Marijuana is used in medicine to reduce pain, relax and put one in a restful state. Basically to ‘put you out of your mind and put you out of your misery.‘” Lol. Then Mr. Long goes on to say he supports Morphine, a highly addictive and deadly drug from Big Pharma.
“Marijuana users can’t be trusted to make sound decisions.” –Commissioner Tommy Long. (Who loves our God but not the medicine He provides!)
Can you? Mr. Long? Make sound decisions?? You support alcohol use through legalization, which is absolutely known, beyond a shadow of doubt, that it makes some people stupid, aka making poor choices. Some studies on Cannabis show decreased motor vehicle accidents, so you should check your facts. I mean, you are representing the people. We hope that you are pulling for safe and effective medicine!
Is that how politics works? You just start a meme or “sound bite” that isn’t true and say it frequently enough that people start to accept it as true? “Politics!” “Bizness.”
Commissioner Mark Pless
“Everyone knew that (alcohol) being illegal didn’t prevent manufacturing, sale or consumption – it just kept the government from getting any money from it. Today there are 88,000 deaths attributed to alcohol consumption, which makes it the 3rd highest in preventable deaths.”
“Sale and manufacturing of alcohol does increase tax revenue. Given the costs of Medical care spent each year treating diseases that come from alcohol consumption, we haven’t gained money. Given our society seems to favor free healthcare, if that day ever comes the tax collected certainly would not come close to the amount paid out by the government for medical care due to alcohol consumption.”
That is a long way to say “I couldn’t support legalization of marijuana because it is dangerous like alcohol.”
Because alcohol is a harmful drug, I cannot support Marijuana. Because Poke berries are poison, I cannot support using the root as medicine. Because men think they know something, without all the facts, I cannot support women. Yes, makes sense.
P.S. The only study I could find implicating increased health care costs from Cannabis… Alcoholics stayed in treatment longer. Lol.
CANTON Mayor Zeb Smathers
“I pride myself on being practical and lobbying our leaders on issues such as opioid addiction, affordable housing, gerrymandering and erasing the urban-rural divide – more important issues than a referendum on cannabis.”
“I would not in introduce or support a resolution to support recreational legalization. The major reason, as with any issue, is it’s not a need advocated by our citizens.”
Oh, with the opioid addiction problem, safe and effective pain relief is not a citizen need? Hmmmm….
“I do support the continued trend to decriminalize the criminal prosecution of minor cannabis charges. Time and time again, I see our citizens, especially young adults, paying the long-term costs of a short-term bad decision. We need to continue to expand our expungement laws, to reward the ones who have learned from their mistakes. Cannabis is easy to classify as a “gateway drug,” but tobacco and alcohol could be easily be classified as the same. We need to continue to be innovative to see how we can resolve the situation and prevent the individual from continuing down a path towards other dangerous substance abuse issues, such as opioid addiction.”
Using cannabis is a bad decision? A bad decision like using a God given plant, to relax, reduce pain, or even escape this manly ‘control by punishment’ planet? Or a bad decision like wearing a green tie to court? Only the first example get punished for their “bad decision” which was imposed on their freedom, while your freedom of color coordination goes home to enjoy more freedom.
Real doctors refute the gateway thing. Thank you for doing your research before answering.
Alderman Dr. Janet Banks: Maggie Valley
“Before legislation is even proposed, I would like solid answers from the state legislature as to how they visualize changing current laws we have on the books as to possession of a substance (amounts); state police protocols and requirements for driving under the influence and the commission of crimes; drug detection (K-9 programs) and urine testing of controlled substances for job interviews and/or Medicaid recipients.”
“Additionally, I want to know how you define recreational use. When and how much? On the job or at home? And lastly, how will this affect a person’s motor vehicle insurance rates, health insurance rates, and life insurance rates? Extra premiums are charged for smoking, what about cannabis?”
The most controlling man of the bunch, she will only consider Cannabis once they decide how to control what people put in their body, well, just if they put this in their body…they can put alcohol in their body if they are of age, and Xanax or Oxycontin if they are prescribed it by a real doctor. Manly women are just…the…worst.
Alderman Diane Fore: Clyde
“In response to your questions regarding legalized recreational cannabis sales, I’m afraid at this time I would not have a statement. I feel that I would have to better educate myself on the topic.” AHHH, HONESTY.
Mayor Gavin Brown: Waynesville
“I have not considered this issue enough to have an opinion that I would feel comfortable giving other than to say I favor legalization. (FREEDOM OF CHOICE?) If I were making the decision I would add a second component and outlaw tobacco products!” MMMMMM…WISDOM.
Alderman Jon Feichter
“…this country has spent an estimated $1 trillion on the war on drugs since 1971. If the investment had resulted in significant reductions in the manufacture, sale and use of illegal drugs, that’d be one thing. But to my mind, we are as far away from solving this problem as we were almost 50 years ago. Therefore, I do support legalization of marijuana for both medicinal and recreational use and believe it should be taxed and controlled in the same way alcohol is.” THAT SEEMS FAIR.
PLEASE NOTE, Legislators: DrStone is happy to help you understand the use of God’s medicines. Plant Medicines. DrStone has helped the blind to see and over 40 incurable medical conditions, using Plant Medicines. If I had access to Cannabis, I would use it to relax and access the feminine wisdom, the creative and expansive. I would use it for severe pain, when Turmeric, Devil’s Claw and Frankincense didn’t relieve enough, which work better than Advil and Celebrex. (38).
But when all hell breaks loose, nothing beats the Devil’s Lettuce.
I also teach that God created the plants, and MAN named them, so don’t be put off by names. I teach that healers KNOW which plants not to use, but don’t ask a doctor. Ask a healer. Doctors are modern day drug pushers, and Big Pharma is the drug cartel. (39)
