Regional Pain Syndrome with a Root Cause of Lyme Disease

He Crawled to the ER — But Still Didn’t Get His Life Back

A healing story about Lyme disease, reactive arthritis, chronic pain, and finding the pattern underneath

One ordinary morning, he woke up and his life had changed.

The day before, he could stand.

Walk.

Dress himself.

Go to work.

Live his life.

But that morning, he could not even stand up.

His wife had already left for work, so he did the only thing he could do.

He crawled to get his clothes.

He crawled to the car.

Then he crawled into the nearest emergency room.

That is how suddenly the journey began.

No warning.

No dramatic injury.

No obvious explanation.

Just a body that went from functioning to disabled overnight.

Pain Was the First Message

At first, the pain was regional — focused around the foot and ankle.

The emergency room treated the immediate pain with a steroid injection and sent him home.

And sometimes that is what emergency medicine is designed to do.

Rule out the emergency.

Reduce the immediate crisis.

Help the person get through the moment.

But pain relief is not always the same as healing.

If the pain is coming from a deeper inflammatory or immune pattern, suppressing the pain may only quiet the message temporarily.

The underlying need may still be there.

And for him, it was.

The relief wore off.

The pain came back.

And the journey continued.

The Diagnosis: Reactive Arthritis

Next, he saw a specialist and was diagnosed with reactive arthritis.

Reactive arthritis is generally understood as joint pain and inflammation that can follow an infection somewhere else in the body — often the intestines, urinary tract, or other immune-triggering source.

That diagnosis was actually a clue.

It suggested that his joint pain may not have started in the joint alone.

It may have started with an immune response.

An infection.

Inflammation.

A body defending itself against something deeper.

He was prescribed medication aimed at suppressing the inflammatory immune response.

And for a while, the pain improved.

But then his doctor said something important:

“This is a pretty harsh medicine. Your pain is resolved, so we’ll wean you off.”

That is when he learned the truth.

The pain had not resolved.

It had been suppressed.

When the medication was reduced, the pain returned.

That is one of the most frustrating experiences a patient can have.

You think you are better.

Then the support is removed.

And you realize the body has not actually healed yet.

Prestige Did Not Change the Pattern

Still searching for answers, he drove to Johns Hopkins Medical Center to see a prestigious doctor.

The recommendation was essentially the same medication.

And because the source was prestigious, he thought perhaps he simply needed to take it longer.

But this time, it did not even suppress the pain.

The pattern was getting stronger.

The pain was no longer responding the way it once had.

His body was becoming harder to quiet.

That is when chronic illness begins to feel frightening.

Because when the tools that used to work stop working, the person begins to wonder:

“What is happening to me?”

The Lyme Disease Clue

Next, he traveled all the way to Buffalo to be seen by the Sisters of Mercy.

To their credit, they looked deeper and found Lyme disease.

That was an important clue.

I have seen regional pain syndromes that turned out to be connected to Lyme or other chronic immune challenges, so that finding mattered.

But according to him, even with that discovery, his pain did not improve.

He had a diagnosis.

But he still did not have his life back.

And that is an important distinction.

A diagnosis can name part of the problem.

But healing requires finding what the body actually needs.

By the Time He Found Us

By the time he found True Health, his journey had lasted two years.

Two years of pain.

Two years of searching.

Two years of driving to specialists.

Two years of trying to understand why his body had turned against him.

The pain had spread.

Now his shoulders hurt.

He was exhausted.

He had headaches.

He had visual disturbances.

And when he walked into our office, he rated his pain as 10 out of 10.

This was no longer just a painful foot and ankle.

This was a whole-body pattern.

Pain.

Inflammation.

Exhaustion.

Neurological symptoms.

Immune stress.

A body that had been fighting for too long.

The Bigger Question

At that point, the question was not simply:

“Is this reactive arthritis?”

Or:

“Is this Lyme disease?”

The deeper question was:

What pattern is keeping his body inflamed, exhausted, and in pain?

Because chronic pain is rarely just one thing.

Especially when it spreads.

Especially when energy collapses.

Especially when headaches and visual symptoms appear.

Especially when the person has already tried suppression and it no longer works.

At that point, we have to look at the whole system.

The immune system.

The lymphatic system.

The adrenal system.

The inflammatory pathways.

The infection history.

The body’s ability to clear waste, calm inflammation, and repair tissue.

That is where the real work begins.

What His Labs Showed

His labs revealed inflammation and adrenal exhaustion.

That made sense.

Chronic infections and chronic immune challenges wear people down.

Pain wears people down.

Two years of uncertainty wears people down.

When the body has been fighting for a long time, the stress-response system can become depleted.

The person may still be inflamed, but no longer resilient.

Still fighting, but exhausted.

Still in pain, but with less capacity to recover.

That was his pattern.

Inflammation plus depletion.

Immune challenge plus adrenal exhaustion.

Pain plus poor repair.

This was not a body that simply needed to be pushed harder.

This was a body that needed support.

Finding the Plant That Matched the Pattern

I tested until I found a plant that strengthened his weakness.

That plant was Manjistha.

Manjistha is a traditional plant used in Ayurvedic medicine. It is often thought of as a lymphatic and blood-clearing plant, traditionally used to help the body move irritation, heat, and congestion through the system.

That was important in his case.

Because when chronic inflammation lingers, it is not enough to think only about killing an infection or blocking pain.

The body also has to clear.

Drain.

Move.

Decongest.

Repair.

The lymphatic system matters.

The immune system matters.

The terrain matters.

And for him, Manjistha appeared to match the need.

Why Lymphatic Support Matters

The lymphatic system is one of the body’s great cleanup pathways.

It helps move waste, immune debris, inflammatory byproducts, and fluid congestion.

When the lymphatic system becomes sluggish, the body can feel heavy, swollen, inflamed, toxic, stuck, and achy.

In chronic immune cases, especially the “weird” ones, I often think about the lymphatic system.

Because sometimes the body is not just fighting.

It is also failing to clear the aftermath of the fight.

That can keep pain alive.

That can keep inflammation circulating.

That can keep the nervous system irritated.

And that can keep the person stuck in a loop.

For him, we needed to support both the immune challenge and the cleanup pathways.

Six Weeks Later

His journey had lasted two long years before he came to us.

He walked in with 10 out of 10 pain.

He was exhausted.

His shoulders hurt.

His foot pain had become part of daily life.

Then we supported his body with Mother Nature’s medicine for six weeks.

And the report was dramatically different.

His energy was now 7 or 8 out of 10.

His shoulder pain was gone.

His foot pain was no longer disabling.

He described it as “slightly sore.”

That is a major change.

Not because every case responds that way.

Not because every Lyme or reactive arthritis case needs the same support.

But because once the plan matched the pattern, his body finally started moving in the right direction.

That is what we are always looking for.

A healing trend.

What Was the True Cause?

Here is the honest answer:

We do not know every detail.

The specialist called it reactive arthritis.

That suggested an infection-triggered inflammatory joint pattern.

The Sisters of Mercy identified Lyme disease.

That suggested a chronic bacterial immune challenge.

His labs showed inflammation and adrenal exhaustion.

His symptoms showed spreading pain, headaches, visual disturbance, and whole-system stress.

Which one was “the” cause?

In a case like this, the better answer may be:

The whole pattern mattered.

Infection mattered.

Inflammation mattered.

Immune stress mattered.

Lymphatic clearing mattered.

Adrenal exhaustion mattered.

Pain suppression alone was not enough.

He needed the body’s deeper needs met.

The Lesson

The lesson from this story is not that every case of Lyme disease needs Manjistha.

It is not that every case of reactive arthritis has the same root cause.

It is not that medication is never useful.

It is not that people should ignore medical care for severe pain, neurological symptoms, or possible Lyme disease.

The lesson is this:

When pain keeps spreading and suppression stops working, we have to look underneath the pain.

Pain may be the loudest symptom.

But the deeper pattern may involve infection.

Immune activation.

Lymphatic congestion.

Inflammation.

Adrenal exhaustion.

Nervous system stress.

Poor recovery.

The body is not random.

It is communicating.

The real question is:

What need is the pain trying to reveal?

The Weird Cases

Some cases fit neatly into a box.

Many do not.

Some people have symptoms that defy the usual explanations.

Pain that moves.

Inflammation that will not calm.

Fatigue that does not make sense.

Brain fog.

Visual symptoms.

Digestive changes.

Hormone changes.

Autoimmune patterns.

Food reactions.

Immune problems.

Doctors may run the standard tests and still not find the pattern.

That does not mean the person is fine.

It means we need a wider lens.

The weird cases often require looking at the whole terrain.

Gut.

Immune system.

Lymph.

Liver.

Adrenals.

Blood sugar.

Nervous system.

Infections.

Stress physiology.

The hidden reasons the body cannot return to normal.

Symptoms Are Messages

This is one of the core principles of my work:

Symptoms are messages.

Pain is a message.

Fatigue is a message.

Headaches are messages.

Visual disturbances are messages.

Inflammation is a message.

A body that cannot stand up is sending a very loud message.

The mistake is assuming the only goal is to silence the message.

Of course, we want relief.

Of course, pain matters.

But if we silence the message without meeting the need, the body may have to speak louder later.

That is what happened in this story.

The pain could be suppressed for a season.

But the deeper pattern remained.

Once we started addressing that pattern, the body finally changed.

This Is Why I Created Body Restoration 90

This is exactly why I created Body Restoration 90 (BR90).

BR90 is for people whose symptoms do not fit neatly into one simple box.

People with pain, fatigue, inflammation, immune problems, gut issues, headaches, brain fog, hormone changes, food reactions, poor sleep, or symptoms that seem strange, stubborn, or disconnected.

It is for people who have been told everything looks fine, but they know they are not fine.

It is for people who have been given a diagnosis, but still do not have a plan that restores their life.

In BR90, we do not just chase symptoms.

We look for the deeper pattern.

Immune activation.

Gut stress.

Lymphatic congestion.

Inflammation.

Adrenal depletion.

Blood sugar instability.

Nervous system stress.

Lab patterns.

Recovery blocks.

The hidden reasons your body may be stuck in survival mode.

Then we coach you step by step to help your body repair, rebuild, and respond differently.

If You Have One of the Weird Cases

Maybe your story is not Lyme disease.

Maybe it is not reactive arthritis.

Maybe you are not crawling to the ER.

But maybe your body is doing things that do not make sense.

Pain that moves.

Fatigue that will not lift.

Brain fog.

Headaches.

Inflammation.

Anxiety.

Gut symptoms.

Hormone swings.

Food reactions.

A body that feels like it is getting harder to live in.

Maybe you have been told to manage it.

Suppress it.

Wait it out.

Or accept it.

But deep down, you know there is a pattern nobody has found yet.

That is what BR90 is designed to help uncover.

If this story sounds familiar, I invite you to apply for Body Restoration 90 (BR90).

Tell us what happened.

Tell us what has been ruled out.

Tell us what still does not make sense.

You may not need to keep chasing symptoms.

You may need someone to help you find the deeper pattern — and guide your body back toward strength, clarity, and life.
