Take 3 – Daily Acupressure + Movement

Daily Self Care!

The practice will be 1 minute of acupressure and 2 minutes of movement.  Pick 2 movements and do each for one minute.  Showing and teaching take a little longer, but once you get it – 3 Minutes a Day!!

Commit to 3 minutes and you will naturally add more, bc it feels Good!!

When you begin to add more, start with slowing down the emotional recall to really connect to past trauma/stress.  Then do 2 sessions in one day.  Then 3, 4…and if you get busy, at the end of the day, just take 3, to keep your commitment to yourself.  (Or if you forget, do hard qigong to “punish yourself” – a much better and healthier approach to frustration and disappointment – Healing Touch tab, Section 1 – Daily Acu.)

But there are no rules, so if you want to start with 10 minutes right away, just add any movements you want.  More qi gong type movements?  Basic movements – Squat, Lunge, Push, Pull, etc.). Animal movements, calisthenics?  ALL available under the Movement Tab in our Membership area!

If you ever feel confused, do your best, and ask DrStone!!  You NEED this daily practice, so let’s find a way to create a habit!

Day 1

Slow and Easy with the movements!  Do the easiest version first and breeze through the time.  Then go deeper, farther, a little bit each time.  If you push into pain too quickly, you will quit.  If you make it easy, and easy to do better next time, you will Win!

Remember your body cues!  Press knees apart, drop tail toward the earth, head draws toward the sky, and breathe!!

A Bonus Grounding Practice!

Acupressure for Anxiety in Cancer Patients

80% of cancer patients suffer from severe anxiety.

Anxiety may be caused by cancer diagnosis, side effects of treatment, poor treatment adherence, frequent hospitalization, disruption of normal life, possible disfigurement, extreme pain, financial and social strain, and the death or dying process.  Acupressure for anxiety is a scientifically valid home remedy!

This randomized clinical trial compared acupressure points considered useful for reducing anxiety, vs a placebo and conventional medical care.  A “placebo” in acupressure is pressure on a spot not considered to be clinically significant.  They touched somewhere else.

Acupressure is based on the belief that problems, dysfunctions, and diseases are caused by an imbalance in the flow of vital energy in the body. Thus, by stimulating these specific points, the flow of vital energy can be balanced, and the problems, dysfunctions, or diseases can be treated (). In addition, in medical science there is a theory that acupressure affects the concentration of neurotransmitters and adrenocorticotropic (stress) hormones, reducing anxiety ().

Acupressure promotes relaxation, relieves shortness of breath, and enhances immunity (). Nurses have intimate and long-term relationships with patients, and can apply acupressure, as part of their nursing care, to reduce and treat patients’ illnesses ().

Several studies conducted on the effect of acupressure for anxiety before abdominal surgery show that it works.

Patients in the acupressure group received the intervention in 25- to 30-minute sessions (one session per day for 10 days) by the researcher, who pressed his or her thumb at each acupressure point alternately for 2 minutes.

Pressing these acupressure points worked 80% better than just randomly touching.  The medical care group experienced increased anxiety.  So well over 100% better than medical care alone.

Allow me to introduce you to the points that helped the anxiety of cancer.  I can’t think of a greater worry!

Bladder 13anxiety

Pressing this spot increases the energy of feminine inspiration, what eastern medicine calls Yin.  Yang in the male energy.  Strengthening feminine inspiration is helpful for cough and asthma, and easing anxiety.

Conception Vessel 6anxiety

Pressure applied to this point energizes nourishment and care-taking. It is also for prolapse of the uterus and rectum, when your bottom drops out.

Governing Vessel 20anxiety

Pressure applied to this point relieves the tension of headache and high blood pressure. This is also another point that is for the bottom dropping out.  (prolapse)

Lung 9 and Heart 7anxiety

The source points of inspiration and heart desire.  Source points are like recharging your car battery.

Large Intestine 4 and 10anxiety

Pressing these points assists your letting go of what doesn’t serve you and increasing connection to the feminine.

Pressing or rubbing these points is 80% better at reducing anxiety than randomly touching.  Let’s be intentional about our touch.
