Medical Care for The Intensely Sensitive

Borderline Personality Disorder is the Medical diagnosis for “highly sensitive people.”

I hate the labeling our culture does, but we have to call it something so we can communicate. How ’bout we take the highly sensitive people label and borderline personality disorder label, and re-label this observation as a Gift of God.

Then lets consider the varying approaches to caring for whatever this human is.

First, lets look at the tender loving Medical care for our most sensitive people.  They try to talk some sense into them with psychotherapy, (J/K, I like my therapist) and send them home with a prescription.

  1. Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors: SSRI’s or antidepressants are usually well-tolerated; chance of a lethal overdose is minimal. However, “SSRIs are only marginally effective for depression and anxiety in patients with borderline personality disorder.”
  2. Mood Stabilizer: Iamotrigine slows down hyperactivity of brain tissue.  One tiny side effect, it inhibits MTHFR gene function, which destroys developing babies, and slowly deteriorates your health.
  3. Benzodiazipines: Ativan and Valium are highly addictive, and they really do nothing more than alcohol.  You just skip the singing and “I love you man” phase, and go right to pass out.  CNN says, “The potential danger of benzodiazepines is no secret: They were involved in about 30% of prescription drug overdose deaths in 2013,
  4. Second Generation Antipsychotics: Abilify blocks the production of dopamine in your brain.  When dopamine is released you feel love and gratitude.  But when your Love is challenged or threatened, Dopamine amplifies the protection part of Love which looks like a Momma Bear!

They could stop challenging or threatening Love, a Gift of God, but instead they prescribe Abilify.  It knocks out a Momma Bear, so they can take what they want without Momma getting out of control.

This isn’t sounding right to me!  That’s not how I would care for our most sensitive, at all!!!

Send your “psychotics” or “borderliners” to True Health.  Here is my approach:

Step 1: I’d hold them until they feel safe.  That doesn’t mean nursing them, silly, it means making safe space.  I invite people more often if it’s too intense out there.  Eventually, you will be able to stay at the Farm for as long as you need.

Step 2: I’d apologize for how hurtful this world feels and share my experience of being highly sensitive in a hard world, at least the most hilarious parts, until they feel comfort and ease

Step 3:  I’d teach the virtue of sensitivity and how our world needs us to be strong. Then I would explain how God so thoroughly disrupted my life, to put this mission in my hands.

Step 4: I give them the healing and strength of my hands which are extensions of a soft heart, and send them home with Bupleurum Formula.  That is my best version of Yi-Gan-San, which came to be over 500 years ago, in the soft tradition of natural medicine in China, for the treatment of sensitive, agitated children.  And double blind tested to significantly relieve the symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder, Treatment Resistant Schizophrenia, and Bipolar Disorder.

It was their best care for their most sensitive children, and it’s been passed along for its effectiveness for 500 years.  In 2008, they scientifically validated Yi-Gan-San with a double blind study, the highest form of scientific validation, according to Medicine.

After 12 weeks, the doctors concluded that there was a “highly significant improvement in anxiety, tension, depressive mood, hostility, suspiciousness, motor retardation, uncooperativeness, and manic episodes.

Lol.  I love medical terminology, not for it’s value, but for its humor.  They call a genetic vulnerability a MTHFR, and “not showing the will / movement to live or thrive,” = motor retardation.

True Health’s 4 steps vs the American Medical Association’s 4 steps!?

I’d love to hear your vote.  Which would you prefer?!?

Borderline Personality Disorder

“Borderline personality disorder is a mental illness marked by an ongoing pattern of varying moods, self-image, and behavior.”

“People with Borderline Personality disorder may experience intense episodes of anger, depression, and anxiety.  These episodes may last from a few hours to days.

People with borderline personality disorder also tend to view things in extremes. As a result, their opinions of other people can change quickly. An individual who is seen as a friend one day may appear as an enemy or traitor the next.

It is important that people with borderline personality disorder receive evidence-based, specialized treatment from an appropriately trained provider.”

The above is the description provided by the National Institute of Mental Health.  They recommend talking to a therapist you trust, but they don’t have an evidence based medicine to offer.  In my opinion, they recommend something that they do not have available as a method of treatment.

Calm your “oversensitive” minds.  Mother Nature offers evidence based medicine for Borderline Personality Disorder.

Traditional Chinese Medicine has a plant formulation for borderline personality disorder.

The use of Bupleurum for Liver disorders began over 2000 years ago.  Over 500 years ago a formulation was created for use in the treatment of agitation in children. They call it Yi-gan-san, commonly referred to as Bupleurum Formula.

In 2008, Chinese doctors decided their medicine needed scientific validation.  As a course of treatment, they gave 20 women medically diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, Bupleurum formula daily.

After 12 weeks, they concluded there was a “highly significant improvement in anxiety, tension, depressive mood, hostility, suspiciousness, motor retardation, uncooperativeness, and excitement subscale.”

If I understand correctly, the excitement subscale measures mania or manic episodes.

Later in 2008, they tested their medicine with Tardive Diskinesia.  This is what they call the condition of facial twitching caused by antipsychotic medicine.  It helped again, significantly.

In 2009 they gathered schizophrenics to test their medicine, and in 2011, they tried it for hallucinations.

In 2012, a professor of psychiatric medicine reported that this plant formulation “is a well-tolerated and effective remedy. It improves the symptoms of schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, hallucinations, and tardive dyskinesia.”  You can read the studies here.

Based on these studies, you can see that this plant mixtures is effective in a variety of different personality and mental issues.

Bupleurum is a key ingredient in True Masculine StrengthTrue Stress Resilience is the Western version of the rest of the ingredients in the Traditional Chinese Medicine, Bupleurum formula.

If you purchased Bupleurum Formula from our online store, you would have evidence-based specialized treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder, the mental illness where you feel things too intensely.

Also, it works well for hallucinations, for when you see things that aren’t there.

And maybe, someday, we will find the value in our overly-sensitive.  Maybe we’ll celebrate them instead of giving them a medical condition.  In the meantime, Bupleurum Formula will provide:

  • Strength to your sensitivity and vitality, which dries your tears.
  • It levels out the extremes of good and bad.
  • Gets your blood pumping and moving, and increases motivation.
  • Relaxes tension and agitation, and increases a feeling of peacefulness.
  • Relieves feeling stuck, and nourishes better choices.

Sounds weird to me, but it’s evidence based and scientifically validated for use with Borderline Personality Disorder.
